Optical Design

I design astronomical spectrographs and camera mostly Precise Radial Velocity (PRV) Instruments for exoplanets characterization in different wavelength: UV, Optical, NIR. My previous work in Chile with Prof. Leonardo Vanzi includes FIDEOS, TARdYS and PLATOSPEC.

Optomechanical Design

This is where I started my work in the field of astronomical instrumentation. I designed the optomechanical supports for the IGRINS mirror mounts and perform finite element analysis. Then I transfer my experience to the design and construction of TARdYS.

Alignment

Alignment is a crucial part to build an instrument for a precise measurement.

Simulations

Together with the spectrograph design, I made a simulation platform for sentivity analysis and exposure time calculator. This simulation platform is highly robust that it can be tuned to work with different spectrographs at different wavelength range. Figure shows well agreement between simulation and observation in case of FIDEOS, an optical spectrograph.

Fabry Perot Interferometer

This is the most recent project I am working on. With the FIOS team at Harvard, we are developing an instrument concept for an ultra-high resolution application to study exoplanet atmospheres using transmission spectroscopy and a cross correlation techniques.
